What is Cab3 and what does it matter to all Zimbabweans.

CAB3 stands for the Constitution of Zimbabwe Amendment (No. 3) Bill. Introduced by the government, it represents the third major attempt to overhaul the country's landmark 2013 Constitution

The bill alters how the country is governed, shifting the fundamental relationship between Zimbabwean citizens and state power

Current Status:
The 90-day public consultation phase concluded after a series of tense, nationwide public hearings. Members of Parliament are actively debating the legislation, with civil society coalitions calling for a national referendum, while the government moves forward with the legislative steps required to pass the bill into law

Loss of the Direct Vote: For ordinary citizens, the bill removes their most fundamental democratic right: the ability to vote directly for their national leader. Power is shifted entirely to parliamentarians.

Is that what you want Zimbabwe?

Constitutional Integrity: Legal experts argue the bill circumvents Section 328 of the 2013 Constitution, which explicitly states that any amendment extending term limits cannot legally benefit an incumbent leader who held office before the amendment.

We all know who stands to benefit from this....

Weakened Checks and Balances: By abolishing independent oversight commissions and removing judicial consultation for key legal appointments, critics argue that CAB3 concentrates absolute power within the executive branch, leaving ordinary citizens with fewer avenues for accountability, justice, and human rights
